Based on the characteristics of water conservancy engineering, when planning natural slopes for river management, it is recommended to adopt a relatively gentle slope as much as possible under the conditions of land use. For river sections constrained by land use conditions, the internal impact angle and cohesion of the foundation soil obtained from on-site geological surveys are generally used to determine the implemented slope through calculation.

Regarding the Renault cushion slope, due to the much larger internal impact angle of the block stones compared to the cohesive soil, and the fact that the block stones are wrapped with a layer of steel wire mesh, the overall stability is good. Therefore, when determining the slope angle of the Renault cushion slope, the planning unit only calculates the maximum slope angle that can be selected for soil slope stability based on the characteristics of the foundation soil, and then selects a suitable and stable slope angle based on the land use conditions on site. The slope angle of 11.5 and 11.75 are planned and selected for this project using the Renault cushion slope according to different regional conditions. Slope 11.5 is determined by the planning unit through slope stability calculation and combined with the land use conditions of the river channel The slope of 11.75 is the original slope of the soil slope in the river section before management.

On a slope with a gradient of 11.5, use Reynolds pads according to the M5.4x2x0.23GF specification, while on a slope with a gradient of 11.7 steps, use pads according to the M6x2x0.23GF specification The use of different specifications of Renault pads on slopes with different slopes is only to ensure a straight distance of 2 meters between the top of the pad and the river channel. During construction, the slope of the drainage channel is first repaired using manual excavators according to the planned slope Then, a layer of filter geotextile with a specification of 250g/m3 and a thickness>1.6mm is laid within the slope scale of the Renault cushion device. Its effect is to prevent soil particles from being carried away during material exchange between the soil and the river channel After the formation of slope collapse and other damages, the geotextile device is solidified The folded Renault pad can be placed in place according to the planning requirements, and the longitudinal direction of the Renault pad should be straight with the centerline of the river.

Afterwards, manual labor is used to transfer the stones from the top of the slope to the masonry direction, and skilled workers are responsible for laying them out, starting from the bottom of the slope. Due to the fact that the Renault pad is only 23cm thick, in order to ensure construction quality, it is necessary to first crush the incoming stone materials. Stone materials with particle sizes smaller than the Renault pad mesh or larger than the Renault pad thickness are not allowed to be used.

When laying bricks, attention should be paid to the stability, solidity, and compactness of the stones, especially for the edge orientation of the box, and larger particle size stones should be selected for filling and filling to minimize the empty space filled at the edge orientation. When laying, attention should be paid to exposing the larger and flat side of the stone facing upwards, so that the finished Renault cushion has a flat and beautiful surface.

After the stone masonry of each construction section (which can be distinguished by multiples of the width of each Renault pad according to practical conditions) is completed, the cover plate can be installed. The cover plate and pad body are connected by twisted edges using steel wires of the same material as the mesh steel wire. In order to improve the connection strength, the twisted edge steel wires should be alternately twisted in a single circle and a double circle according to a distance of 10-15 cm.
